Cheers for Champions

(HawaiiNewsNow) - The Downtown Athletic Club Hawaii (DACH), which was established earlier this year by a group of well-know local business people who wanted to start a nonprofit to promote the importance of sports in our community. DACH has been hosting monthly pau hanas and lunchtime events, featuring Hawaii sports people like Norm Chow, Dave Shoji, Manti Teo, etc.

DACH is launching its inaugural fundraising event -- Cheers for Champions! - Changing Lives, One Student-Athlete at a Time -- to benefit the Pacific Island Athletic Alliance on Nov. 8 at Don' Murphy's new and improved Ferguson's Irish Pub downtown and the adjacent courtyard. The event will feature food from Murphy's Bar & Grill, Hukilau, JJ Dolan's, and others, wine tasting, silent auction, prize giveaways, and local entertainment.

DACH was founded earlier this year to help build a stronger Hawaii through sports.. We launched a series of entertaining lunchtime and pau hana gatherings featuring fascinating local sports people as keynote speakers and are now about to embark on our next chapter of bringing friends together to support our community.

As a recognized and committed supporter of local athletics and our community, we hope that you will join us for DACH's inaugural benefit fundraiser, "Cheers for Champions! - Changing Lives, One Student-Athlete at a Time," on Thursday, November 8, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Ferguson's Irish Pub and the adjacent Arcade in the Dillingham Transportation Building, 729 Bishop Street in Downtown Honolulu.

Proceeds from the event will support the Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance (PIAA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, that since 2003 has assisted in securing more than $16 million in athletic and academic scholarships, grants and financial aid for 1,200 college-bound student athletes from Hawaii and American Samoa. PIAA also holds SAT test-prep workshops and athletic combine events to help prep student-athletes maximize their college opportunities, at low or no cost to the student-athletes and their families.
