Oahu outdoor warning sirens tested today

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Civil Defense and the Department of Emergency Management tested warning sirens on Oahu this morning at 11:45 a.m.

People around Oahu should have heard a steady one minute tone on all sirens. Some areas also should have heard a whooping sound after the first tone.

If the siren in your community does not sound or does not operate properly please call the Department of Emergency Management at 723-8960 to report it.  You can also email the department at dem@honolulu.gov<mailto:dem@honolulu.gov

Residents now have the option of reporting malfunctioning or vandalized sirens on-line.  Visit the City's Siren Trouble Report page at http://www3.honolulu.gov/DEMSiren/ to file your report as well as upload pictures.

Saturday's tsunami scare have caused officials to take a hard look at our state's siren warning system.
