HALAWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Access to the H-3 eastbound was closed from the H-1 after a motorcycle accident left a Kaneohe man in his 50s in critical condition Monday night.
The motorcyclist was going Kaneohe-bound on the H-3 just past Halawa when he collided with the rear of a pickup truck that had stalled in the fast lane at around 10:20 p.m. The rider was ejected and struck a guardrail, then landed on the roadway.
Paramedics took the motorcyclist to the Trauma Center in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet. The pickup truck driver was not injured.
It is unknown whether speed or alcohol are factors.
The H-3 was re-opened just before 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.
