Tsunami forces the evacuation of 1,700 Kbay Marines

Marine Corps Base Hawaii evacuated a tsunami evacuation zone of approximately 1,700 Marines, sailors and their families. Currently military police are clearing the neighborhood to ensure all families have evacuated.

In addition to tsunami sirens the base is updating the base community via loud speakers, facebook, and public safety TV announcements. Base residents have been informed to evacuate and seek higher ground. Two evacuation areas are open, one at the Officer's Club the other at Semper Fit Gym.

The base is taking every precaution to ensure the safety of personnel and residents.
