Woman arrested on Maui for attempting to run over boyfriend with truck

WAILUKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 36-year-old Wailuku woman was arrested for attempted murder on Thursday after police say she tried to run over her boyfriend with her pickup truck.

The incident happened at just after 4:00 p.m. at 215 North Market Street in Wailuku.

According to police, Irene Evans got into an argument with her boyfriend after he threatened to break up with her. Police say the argument then moved to a nearby parking lot, where Evans allegedly attempted to run her boyfriend over with her pick-up truck. The victim was able to jump onto the hood of the truck and landed on the windshield breaking the glass.

Police say Evans then drove her truck into the victim's car, causing approximately $3,000 in damages.

According to police, the victim suffered minor injuries, including pain to his head and shoulder.

Evans was arrested for second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal property damage.

Her bail is set at $51,000
