HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for north and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai and for north facing shores of Maui.
Forecasters say a large northwest swell will produce hazardous surf along north and west facing shores through Saturday. The high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday.
Surf along north facing shores will build to 15 to 20 feet Friday night. West facing shores will see waves of 10 to 15 feet Friday night.
Forecasters say the swell will peak early Saturday morning then gradually subside.
A high surf advisory indicates large breaking waves will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing dangerous rip currents.
