Authorities investigate apparent drowning off Kohala Coast

WAIKOLOA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island officials said a Japanese visitor apparently drowned in waters fronting a resort on Kaniku Drive in Waikoloa Monday afternoon.

Police say 35-year-old Takashi Nakayama was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have classified the case as a coroner's inquest. They have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
