Hawaii company recalls ground beef products due to possible E. Coli
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Higa Meat & Pork Market is recalling approximately 4,100 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The following products are subject to recall:
• 10-lb. bags of "HIGA MARKET-GROUND BEEF BULK" - 1 to 6 bags per carton/case.
Each case bears the establishment number "EST. 12457M" inside the USDA mark of inspection, as well as the identifying case code number: "291."
The products were produced on Oct. 17 and were distributed to restaurants on Oahu.
The problem was discovered by FSIS and occurred as a result of the products testing positive for E. coli and being shipped prior to the company receiving test results. FSIS and the company have received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of these products. Individuals concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider.
