(HawaiiNewsNow) - Ward Centers is overflowing with end-of-October activities that will have Kaka'ako crawling with keiki and critters. On Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, families and their furry friends will want to slip into their Halloween best and make their way to Ward Centers' Fangtastic Fest. The annual event features a spook-tacular line up of events, including keiki and pet costume contests, a pet expo, a carved pumpkin contest and more.
The premier street shopping destination is offering a number of month-end festivities, including the following:
Ward Centers' Spend and Get Promotion, Oct. 19 to 21 at Ward Centers
Ward Centers is offering a trick-free-treat to shoppers who spend $50 or more from Oct. 19 to 21. All qualifying shoppers will receive a free Menchie's ice cream as part of Ward Centers' monthly Spend and Get promotion!
Fangtastic Fest, Oct. 28, 12 to 4 p.m. at Ward Warehouse and Ward Centre
The highlight of this month's festivities -- Fangtastic Fest -- on Sunday, Oct. 28 takes place from 12 to 4 p.m. at Ward Centre and Ward Warehouse and includes the following activities:
Trick-or-Treating, 12 p.m. at participating Ward Centers shops
Keiki can get a double dose of Halloween trick-or-treating this year with Fangtastic Fest! Participating stores throughout Ward Centers will be giving gobs of goodies starting at 12 p.m., while supplies last.
The Pet Corner Pet Expo, 12 to 4 p.m. at Ward Warehouse
Owners and their pets can morph into their favorite creature costumes and join other animal lovers for The Pet Corner's Pet Expo, starting at 12 p.m. outside The Pet Corner at Ward Warehouse. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, The Pet Corner will offer 20 percent off select merchandise throughout its store that day. Additionally, a variety of pet vendors will be present, offering tasty treats, information and prize giveaways every 15 minutes from 12 to 4 p.m. One lucky winner present at the expo will also get the chance to take home the grand prize -- a puppy of their choice from The Pet Corner! Winner will be announced at 4 p.m.
Pumpkin Carving Contest, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Ward Centre
Pumpkin sculptors can put their talent to the test by making their way to the registration table at Ward Centre fronting Red Pineapple and Bed Bath & Beyond from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. to enter their pared pumpkins in this year's Ward Centers' pumpkin carving contest. Carved pumpkins will be on display at Ward Centre in front of Red Pineapple and Bed Bath & Beyond where voting will be open to the public on location and online until Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. The carved pumpkin with the most votes will be announced at 6 p.m. on Ward Centers' Facebook and will be awarded two $100 gift cards of the winner's choice to one store and one restaurant at Ward Centers.
Pet Costume Contest and Parade, 1 p.m. at Ward Warehouse, Amphitheater
There's no holding back at this year's pet costume contest, as proud pet owners will be going all out and registering their best-dressed pet from 12 to 12:55 p.m. at Ward Warehouse. At 1 p.m., pets will make their way to the stage as celebrity judges award their top three favorites in the scariest, cutest, and owner/pet look-alike categories with prizes to paw for. Immediately following the contest, all participating pet contestants will parade through Ward Warehouse, showing off their wicked style. Contest open to the first 50 pets.
Keiki Costume Contest and Parade, 2:45 p.m. at Ward Warehouse, Amphitheater
It's time for a change, and this time it's a costume change! Families can get crafty with costumes for their keiki and compete in this year's keiki costume contest with open registration at Ward Warehouse from 2 to 2:35 p.m. Contestants will be separated into age groups, two through six and seven to 12 years of age. At 2:45 p.m., keiki will hit the stage to work their magic while celebrity judges vote for their favorite costumes. The top two contestants from each age group will be awarded prizes and all participants will parade through Ward Warehouse immediately following the contest. Contest open to the first 100 keiki.
Trick-Or-Treat Street, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m. at Ward Centers
Carrying on its annual tradition, Ward Centers welcomes families to enjoy trick-or-treating throughout its five shopping neighborhoods from 6 to 8 p.m. at participating stores, while supplies last.
Ward Centers is located in the heart of Kaka'ako and is the premier street shopping, dining and entertainment center in Honolulu, with more than 135 unique shops and 40 eateries.
