H1 crash closes Pali on ramp
The H1 westbound Punchbowl on ramp is closed this morning due to a motor vehicle accident. The Honolulu Police Department were on scene at about 5:00 a.m. and requested a tow truck to clear the accident. A car struck a pickup truck at School Street and Pali Highway. The car then crashed into a fence and went down the embankment on to the freeway.@
Obama and Romney face off in the second presidential debate
Following Romney's well-received performance and Obama's lackluster one after the first debate, the stakes for today's second town-hall debate at Hofstra University on New York's Long Island are high as national polls continue to tighten. Today the candidates will focus on undecided voters and independents. @
Rise in monthly Social Security payments
Social Security recipients will be seeing a 1.7 percent increase in their monthly payments next year. The increase is based on the annual inflation numbers -- which were completed by today's report that prices rose by 0.6 percent in September. Prices last month were driven up by higher gas costs -- but aside from energy, there was little sign of inflation.
