What do you feel is the biggest issue facing the Hawaiian community today? And what would you do to solve it?
Our Native Hawaiian community is passionate about a lot of things -- we feel strongly -- and that may cause splintered opinions
to various issues that looks like we can't or won't come together for anything.
I have learned from listening to communities--whether Native Hawaiian or
our larger island community--the importance of keeping those
communication lines open. I've learned from kupuna and mentors that
our people are worth our best effort and I've been curious
enough to find some solutions. What we share in dialog, we manage to
gain mutual understanding and find our relationship and respect grows.
Not easy or fast but when you're building something that will last, it
ensures a proper foundation. Our faith in
God and our willingness to work towards solution will be our best
