HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service (NWS) says trade winds will return tomorrow. That is good news for everyone suffering ill effects from vog (volcanic haze) and unusually humid conditions.
Those trade winds will push the dense, volcanic haze due westward over open water and away from Honolulu and most of the Hawaiian islands.
The volcanic emissions from Kilauea volcano have been choking residents of Oahu, Kauai, Maui County and parts of the Big Island for almost a week due to southerly winds. NWS says the improvement will be gradual today and the air will be noticeably clearer Thursday morning.
