HPD resumes search for missing man at Kaena Point

The Honolulu Fire Department launched a search for a missing person by air after a car was found in the Kaena Point area at the end of Farrington Highway this morning.

Officials say his wife last saw the 36-year-old man yesterday at about 2:30 p.m., and reported him missing at 11:00 p.m. last night.

The fire department began the search on the Waialua side of Kaena Point, but called it off at about 3:00 a.m. because it was too dark and dangerous to continue.

This case is not being linked to high surf conditions, as it does not appear to officials that the man went surfing.

The Honolulu Police Department resumed the search for the man at around 8:00 a.m. on the Waianae side of Kaena Point.
