HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - October has been proclaimed "Infant Safe Sleep Month" in Hawai'i. The Safe Sleep Hawaii committee along with Child & Family Service will share some of the year's highlights on safe sleep efforts and our strategic plan for the future. It will be a great event to meet other community providers in your area and find ways to spread the message of preventing infant mortality due to unsafe sleep environments.
In 2002, the Safe Sleep Hawaii committee was formed to address the serious problem of healthy infants dying unexpectedly due to unsafe sleep practices. Safe Sleep Hawaii is a statewide coalition under the leadership of the Hawaii Department of Health's Maternal Child Health Branch and supports provided by Child & Family Service. The coalition is comprised of various public agencies and organizations that provide services to families with infants and young children.
The "Infant Safe Sleep Month" proclamation event will be held on October 15th, 2012, 10:00am to 11:00am, at St. Andrew's Cathedral, in the Von Holt Room. For more information contact The Parent Line, 526-1222 or email. For more information on Safe Sleep Hawaii, click HERE!
