HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Governor Neil Abercrombie and members of the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation joined Sacred Hearts Academy students, special guests and Board Members for the dedication of The Clarence T.C. Ching Student Center on the Sacred Hearts Academy campus.
The new Student Center, serving as a gathering place, accommodates Sacred Hearts Academy's 1,000 students and honors the Academy's commitment to campus-wide sustainable initiatives. Coinciding with the construction of the Student Center, the school has implemented a wellness initiative emphasizing fitness, fresh foods and nutrition education.
The Student Center replaces the 53 year old former cafeteria.
The project cost was $6.1 million and is fully funded. The Student Center completes a multi-year building plan on the Sacred Hearts Academy campus including the Mother Louise Henriette Performing Arts Center in 2008 and the McKeough Arts Center in 2006.
Sacred Hearts Academy has completed $18 million in capital improvements since the campaign began in 2007.
