Big Waves & Thick Vog, Jerry Sandusky Sentenced, Road to Sainthood

SURF'S UP!

Big waves are pumping on the North Shore this morning. We'll have team coverage on Sunrise with Ramsay watching the surf action and Dan tracking the swell.

NORTH SHORE TRAFFIC

Whenever there's big surf, crowds flock to the North Shore. But, don't forget about the Karsten Thot Bridge repairs. Work continues this morning to the key corridor from Wahiawa to the North Shore. Look for traffic updates every 10 minutes on Sunrise.

STUBBORN VOG LINGERS

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we're stuck with the vog for at least another day until trades blow them out of the picture. Tips from the Department of Health: stay indoors if possible, limit time spent outside and drink plenty of fluids. Right now, it looks like we could see a return to typical trade wind weather tomorrow.

JERRY SANDUSKY

The former Penn State Assistant football coach has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Jerry Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of sexually assaulting 10 boys over a 15 year span. Some of his victims plan to address the court today. Sandusky reportedly also wants to speak. We'll be following developments all morning long.

MOTHER MARIANNE'S ROAD TO SAINTHOOD

The pilgrimage to Mother Marianne's resting place in Syracuse then to Rome for her canonization begins in 3 days. We'll continue our special previews this morning at 6:10. We also have a special section on HawaiiNewsNow.com with more information on Blessed Marianne Cope and her Road to Sainthood.

AMERICAN RED CROSS HEROES

We'll meet more regular people who've done something heroic as we continue Heroes week on Sunrise.

WHAT SONG'S STUCK IN YOUR HEAD?

Plus, the performances that stole the show on the Voice and we just can't get out of our heads this morning. I'm thinking the 80's hit, "Jessie's Girl" for one.

Tune in to Sunrise and who knows, maybe Steve and Dan will battle and sing the song. Not really, but we hope you'll join us anyway.

Aloha,

Tannya
