Two people critically injured in Kaimuki crash

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two people are in critical condition following a crash in Kaimuki.

The incident happened near 6th Avenue and Kilauea Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday.

According to officials, a 42-year-old Honolulu woman driving a 2012 Smart Car failed to make a complete stop at the intersection. A 24-year-old Kailua man operating a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle then slammed into the passenger side of the Smart Car, sending it into an unoccupied parked vehicle on Herbert Street.

Both individuals sustained head and internal injuries, and were transported to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.

Police say the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

It is unknown if speed, alcohol, or drugs were factors in the crash.
