Man rescued after being injured on Koko Crater hike

Emergency responders used a helicopter to airlift an 18-year-old man from the Koko Crater Trail after he was injured during a hike Saturday morning.

According to the Honolulu Fire Department, the man was running down the trail at approximately 6:50 a.m. when he tripped and fell down. He reportedly struck his head and lost consciousness.

The man was carried to a spot suitable for an airlift, then flown to the the bottom of the trail.

He was reportedly transported to a hospital in serious condition.
