Charges filed in Big Island murder case

HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Charges have been filed in connection with a Puna murder that happened back in January.

Walter Boyd Bremmer, 48, has been charged with second degree murder of Robert John Leong, 52.

Bremmer of Mountain View was also charged with first degree burglary and use of a firearm in commission of a separate felony. He has been ordered held without bail. Bremmer is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Monday, October 8.

On January 28, 2012, the body of Robert John Leong was found at a residence in the Eden Roc Subdivision. An autopsy conducted determined that the victim died from a combination of ligature strangulation and a brain injury from a gunshot wound.
