HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu Police have arrested an Aiea man for allegedly scamming a retired pastor out of $150,000.

According to prosecutors, 32-year-old Leon Faamama was enrolled in drug court. He allegedly claimed that the court was charging exorbitant fees, and that he would go to jail if he wasn't able to pay.

Faamama allegedly used the claim to make the pastor give him money over a period of ten months, prosecutors said. Over that time, the suspect's demands drained the victim's bank accounts, used up all of his home equity, and even had him borrowing money from church members, while the suspect used the money for his own purposes.

Faamama was arrested Wednesday morning. He's being held on $250,000 bail.
