CRITICAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH

A motorcyclist is in critical, but stable condition after crashing late last night in Waiahole. We have new video from the scene where the man failed to make a turn in the bend of the road at Waiahole Homestead Road and was thrown from his bike and hit a sign post.

CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL MEMORIAL STONE DEDICATION.

54 of the 81 living Congressional Medal of Honor recipients are in Hawaii this week for their annual reunion and this morning they'll gather at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. They're taking part in a Memorial Stone Dedication ceremony at 10:30 AM. Ramsay Wharton will have a preview this morning on Sunrise. CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL PUBLIC EVENTS

 

You can also meet and honor these service members who have been awarded nation's highest military award for valor under fire. On Friday night from 6-10 PM, actor Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band will perform a free concert at a downtown block party on Nimitz Highway between Smith Street and Nuuanu Avenue. Medal of Honor recipients will be the guests of honor. There will also be a book signing at the Hale Koa Hotel on Saturday and a Patriot Award Dinner aboard the USS Missouri. There have been 3,459 Congressional Gold Medal recipients.

 

LAST DEPLOYMENT FOR USS REUBEN JAMES

The guided-missile frigate USS Reuben James leaves Joint base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for its last deployment today. The crew will spend 7 months in the Western Pacific before the ship is de-commissioned next summer.

FIRST PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will face off in the first of three debates today in Denver. There will be six 15-minute segments devoted to the issues. Economy is the focal point for three of the segments, while healthcare and the role of government will take up the remainder of the time. Tracie Potts is in Denver with a preview and latest poll results on Sunrise. We'll air the debate in its entirety from 3-5 PM on KHNL and KGMB, and re-broadcast it in primetime.
