Makakilo beating victim dies, suspect charged

Honolulu police continue to investigate a brutal attack that left a Kapolei man dead.

Albert Meyer, 29, was found unresponsive with severe injuries on Ho'okeha Street Thursday night in Makakilo.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but died over the weekend.

Royce Gouveia, 27, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder Monday in Makaha.

No word yet on the circumstances of the attack.

Gouveia was charged with manslaughter Tuesday evening. Bail has been set at $250,000.
