Pricey pets on display at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Pricey pets were on display at the Japanese Cultural Center all weekend long.

Hundreds of fish were the featured guests at the 6th annual Ohana Koi & Goldfish Show.

Many owners say they breed different types of koi together, to produce unique results.

Some of these fish are worth thousands of dollars.

"It takes a lot of work and cost you a lot of money sometimes. Their food is more expensive than our food. We're raising big fish, these are the same ones you see at Ala Moana Shopping Center except nicer colors", said fish enthusiast Guy Kamett.

Koi are symbols of good luck, longevity, and good fortune.
