UH Softball Releases Fall Schedule Including Kaua‘i Scrimmage

HONOLULU—(Hawaii Athletics) University of Hawai‘i softball coach Bob Coolen released the 2012 fall softball schedule on Wednesday. The Rainbow Wahine will play five games starting with three in Pre-Season Paradise Classic. UH will then play their annual Alumnae Game and will end their fall slate with an intrasquad scrimmage in Waimea, Kaua‘i.
The Pre-Season Paradise Classic will feature Chaminade and Kumamoto International College on Nov. 2-3. Hawai‘i will open the tournament with Kumamoto on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. The ‘Bows will then face both teams on Saturday at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
The Rainbow Wahine will play their Alumnae Game on Friday, Nov. 9 at 6:00 p.m. UH will face a formidable Alumnae Team including past standouts that collectively  earned 10 All-America and 22 all-conference honors. Joyce (Antonio) Kong, Rose Antonio, Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu, Melissa Gonzalez, Tanisha Milca, Dara Pagaduan, Kanani Pu‘u-Warren, Stephanie Ricketts, Kate Robinson, Sarah Robinson, Tyleen Tausaga, Richie (Titcomb) Calazar, Stacey Yamada plus current associate head coach Dee Wisneski and current assistant coach Kaulana (Gould) Williams will all be there to take on the current squad.
The ‘Bows will end their fall schedule with an intrasquad, "Green vs. Black" game at Waimea Canyon Park on the island of Kaua‘i on Nov. 11 at 12:00 p.m. It will be a homecoming for both All-American senior shortstop Jessica Iwata and junior first baseman Jori Jasper who were teammates at Kaua‘i High School. It will also be a homecoming for Wisneski who was an all-state shortstop at Waimea High School before beginning her career as a player and then as a coach at UH. The game will be held in conjunction with a fielding, hitting and pitching clinic for youth ages 10-and-up.
The Rainbow Wahine--who finished 2012 ranked No. 22 with an RPI ranking at No. 23--return 13 letterwinners from last year's conference champion team that posted a 44-9 overall record and advanced to the program's 10th NCAA tournament. Senior All-Americans Iwata and Kelly Majam will lead the 2013 team along with all-conference senior pitcher Kaia Parnaby and first baseman/designated player Leisha Li‘ili‘i who was voted last season's Western Athletic Conference's Freshman of the Year. The ‘Bows will open their 2013 campaign with the Hawai‘i Paradise Classic from Feb. 7-9 with UAB, Washington, Mississippi, and St. Mary's (CA). It will mark the softball team's return to the Big West Conference after 16 seasons in the WAC.
