SEVERE WEATHER: Flood advisory canceled for Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has canceled a flood advisory for the island of Oahu.

At 6:15 a.m. radar showed an area of heavy rain near Kaaawa, about 15 miles north of Honolulu. Forecasters say the advisory also includes Punaluu, Hauula, and Laie.

Heavy rain has since ended in the areas.

    Nearly a year after a landslide in Kipahulu, repairs are getting underway to fix parts of Piilani Highway at the Nuanualoa Gulch. The repairs are part of a 7-month-long, nearly $2 million project. Daily road closures will begin February 5th as Hawaiian Dredging Construction crews bring in equipment to build a retaining wall, put up guard rails and complete other safety measures.
