Maui police looking for driver in fatal hit-and-run

PAIA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Maui Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run in Paia that left an elderly man dead.

According to officials, the body was found in the middle of Paia Bypass Road near Baldwin Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police are looking for a 1997 or 1998 Mitsubishi Galant with a piece of the black plastic grill missing from above the front license plate.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

This is the 19th traffic fatality on Maui this year, compared to 12 at the same time last year.
