More explosions expected at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII, KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) -

In preparation for the Kaneohe Bay Air Show "Wall of Fire" pyrotechnics display, the base will conduct rehearsals Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. and Sept. 28 around 12 p.m.

The rehearsals at Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay will be conducted under controlled conditions with demolitions experts and safety personnel on hand including aircraft rescue and firefighting, military police, airfield safety, and explosive ordnance disposal.

Area residents may see a wall of fire and smoke and hear simulated artillery explosions from the runway.

Marine Corps Base Hawaii received approval from the State of Hawaii Department of Health, Clean Air Branch to conduct special effects displays to simulate bomb blasts and fires during rehearsals and the Kaneohe Bay Air Show, Sept. 29-30.

A number of area residents were startled last Saturday when MCBH conducted the first pyrotechnic rehearsal.
