(HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Life Flight is part of a new docu-series, 'Hawaii Air Rescue,' which premiers on the Weather Channel Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at 9 p.m. ET.
The project began last year when producers visited Hawaii to evaluate a potential series on air medicine. They were impressed by the aloha spirit portrayed by Hawaii Life Flight personnel and fell in love with the paradise we call home. The idea of the air medical television series was presented to various networks and was eventually picked up by the Weather Channel. The new television series call "Hawaii Air Rescue" will feature Hawaii Life Flight and is being produced by Zero Point Zero Productions, producer of shows such as "Meat Men" and "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations".
In the docu-series, viewers will get an exclusive look into the traumatic and often life threatening situations that present themselves every day on our islands. It will also highlight the challenges faced in an area comprised of many separated islands, making air medical transportation essential to Hawaii's health care network.
Without the option to transport patients with ground vehicles from the Neighbor Islands, the Hawaii Air Rescue Series shows just how valuable Hawaii Life Flight's services are to the people living on, and visiting, the islands of Hawaii.
The Weather Channel will begin airing the Hawaii Air Rescue series Wednesday September 12, 2012 at 9 p.m. ET and repeating at 12 midnight ET.
