KIPAHULU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A body found at the bottom of a cliff in East Maui may be that of a missing woman, police said.
According to authorities, the body was discovered Sunday during an air and ground search conducted by Maui County police and fire rescue crews, who were looking for Alexandra Dunyasheva of Kipahulu. She was last seen late Thursday night, and was reporting missing by a friend on Friday.
The body was discovered by the crew of the Air 1 fire department helicopter during a search of the coastline in the Kalepa Gulch area. Police said the body matched Dunyasheva's physical description.
Police said a positive identification of the body is pending. An autopsy is scheduled Monday.
