EWA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - In west Oahu, hundreds picked up important tips on dealing with emergencies Saturday.
The "Get Ready Ewa Beach" emergency preparedness fair featured booths and training sessions from more than 50 organizations and businesses, including state and civil defense, and the Red Cross.
Organizers say the event helps families go above and beyond, to prepare for the worst.
"We are trying to get individual families and our community ready for all hazardous disasters, not just a hurricane, not just a tsunami, but it could be even having food shortage if you lose your job, so you won't be panicking to rush out at the last minute", said Ewa EPC Board member Cheri Villberg.
The second annual event was held as part of National Preparedness Month in September.
