30 years for UK citizen in Hawaii child porn case

HONOLULU (AP) - A British citizen must spend 30 years in prison after being caught with child pornography at a Hawaii airport in 2008.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Friday Simon Jasper McCarty was sentenced by a federal judge in Honolulu. He was also sentenced to a lifetime of supervised release and must pay about $98,000 in restitution.

Earlier this year, the 39-year-old pleaded guilty to a count of producing child pornography. He admitted that between 2005 and 2007, he molested young boys outside of the United States and produced videos of the molestation.

He was arrested in 2008 while trying to fly from Hilo to Honolulu with computer images and video of child pornography.

He was in Hawaii to give a seminar on drum circles.
