President Cleveland - Queen Lili'uokalani Education Project

(HawaiiNewsNow) - George Cleveland, grandson of President Grover Cleveland who was a staunch supporter of Queen Lili'uokalani, will be visiting Hawaii at the end of the month for a series of free public and private events, part of the President Cleveland - Queen Lili'uokalani Education Project.

This seven-year project hopes to inspire the people of Hawaii today, by drawing on the Queen's acts of forgiveness, and provide hope for the future, while also creating new, stronger, historical memory of the events that transpired during the 1890s for future generations.

Events include:

1. Saturday, Sept. 1, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Iolani Palace

Re-enactment of reconciliation, featuring Queen Lili'uokalani and Bishop Willis

FREE TO PUBLIC

2. Monday, Sept. 3, 5:30 - 8 p.m., Maluhia Lutheran Church, 85-256 Farrington Hwy, Waianae

Lecture featuring noted Hawaii historians John Osorio, Kuhio Vogeler, Riana Williams

and Stuart Ching will focus on Queen Lili'uokalani and President Cleveland's work that continues today.

3. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 5:30 - 8 p.m., St. Andrews Cathedral, 229 Queen Emma Square

Lecture featuring noted Hawaii historians John Osorio, Kuhio Vogeler, Riana Williams

and Stuart Ching will focus on Queen Lili'uokalani and President Cleveland's work that continues today.
