Maui police officer hit by car during ‘Fourth Friday' event

PAIA, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Maui police officer on foot patrol suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was struck by a car in Paia on Friday night.

According to officials, the incident happened at approximately 9:26 p.m. near the intersection of Hana Highway and Baldwin Avenue. The officer, who was not identified, was reportedly patrolling an open market in Paia, known as "Paia Fourth Friday," when he was hit by a pick-up truck.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution, where he was treated and released.
