HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 58-year-old man nearly drowned in Waikiki on Saturday morning while participating in the Duke's Oceanfest swim competition.
Emergency medical officials say they received a distress call at 9:54 a.m. after lifeguards noticed the man face down in the water after going into cardiac arrest.
Lifeguards brought him back to the beach, where they performed CPR and were able to regain a pulse. The man was transferred to a trauma center in critical condition.
