Vehicle crashes into pole near Heeia Kea Pier

Kamehameha Highway closed in both directions near Heeia Kea Pier. Kamehameha Highway closed in both directions near Heeia Kea Pier.

KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kamehameha Highway is now open in both directions near the area of Heeia Kea Pier following a vehicle crash.

The incident happened at about 1 a.m. Tuesday when a four-door sedan slammed into a utility pole.

Honolulu police closed Kamehameha Highway in both directions while they investigated. The highway was reopened at about 5:20 a.m.

Officials say electric wires are hanging from the leaning utility pole. Hawaiian Electric Company crews are on scene.

No injuries or power outages were reported.

    A drone that flew over the large crowd at the January 17 Onipaa Kakou event at Iolani Palace is now the subject of a federal investigation. 

    That drone belongs to the State Department of Land and Natural Resources, and was being operated by a state employee.
