YOKOHAMA BAY (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police are investigating an early-morning vehicle crash near Yokohama Bay.
According to HPD Lt. Robert Towne, a 1993 Acura was traveling east on Farrington Highway at about 2:45 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle then slid off the road, hit a guard rail, spun out, and crashed into the side of the mountain.
A 17-year-old male was then ejected from the front passenger seat. He suffered a head injury and was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old male, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
A second male passenger in the vehicle was reportedly in good condition.
Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
Police shut down Farrington Highway in both directions prior to Yokohama Bay while they conducted their investigation.
