We're crossing our fingers that crews will wrap up repairs soon on a downed pole in Wahiawa. California Avenue had to be closed to traffic between North Cane and Uuku Streets so HECO crews could fix the problem. Updates every 10 minutes on Sunrise.

CRITICAL CRASH

A 17 year old boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being ejected in a car crash near Yokohama Bay. We're gathering more details on this accident.

7 AMERICANS KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN

The Taliban is claiming responsibility for shooting down a NATO helicopter in Kandahar. That hasn't been verified, but we do know 7 of those killed were Americans. Other casualties include 3 members of the Afghan National Security Forces, and one Afghan civilian interpreter. Look for the latest on the crash on Sunrise.

WIKILEAKS FOUNDER GRANTED ASYLUM

New this morning, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been granted asylum by Equador. The decision has angered British authorities who want to extradite the notorious Australian hacker to Sweden, where he's wanted for questioning on sexual misconduct allegations. It also complicates any attempt by the United States to extradite Assange to face charges for leaking classified information online.
