No tsunami threat to Hawaii after powerful earthquake off Russia

RUSSIA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A major earthquake off the east coast of Russia was not strong enough to generate a tsunami for Hawaii.

The quake measured 7.3 magnitude, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It happened at 5 p.m. Hawaii time.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says that a destructive pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.  Here is a link to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center
