HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
After the second results printout, with 122 of 156 precincts reporting, former Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano continues to lead Kirk Caldwell and incumbent Peter Carlisle in the race to become the city's next mayor.
Cayetano has received 75,819, or 44.78 percent, of the votes counted so far, compared to 50,854 votes (30.04 percent) for Caldwell and 41,612 votes (24.58 percent) for Carlisle.
With fifty percent of the vote plus one additional vote, Cayetano could claim the mayor's race outright and avoid another contest in November.
