Governor Abercrombie's proclamation to extend polling hours on the Big Island by an hour and a half will delay the release of election results.
Polling locations on Maui, Kauai and Honolulu will close at 6 p.m.; polling locations in Hawaii County will close at 7:30 p.m.
That means election officials cannot release election results until the Hawaii County polls close. We will have those results live on KGMB and HawaiiNewsNow.com.
There were multiple polling stations on the Big Island that opened later than scheduled. The length of the delays varied from a few minutes in some places to more than a half hour in others, and almost an hour and a half in one location.
For Big Island polling place location information please visit the Hawai'i County Elections website at http://www.hawaiicounty.gov/elections-voter-info or you may call the Hawaii County Elections Division at (808) 961-8277 + 0 to speak directly with a telephone operator.
