Visitor injured in accident at Maui zip line

WAIKAPU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 60-year-old man visiting from Nebraska was injured Sunday while zip lining at the Maui Tropical Plantation.

According to Maui County fire officials, the man got stuck on the zip line just before 3 p.m., and then was hit by a Flyin' Hawaiian Zipline employee who was attempting to help him.

The visitor suffered shoulder pain and a head laceration. Both he and the employee were able to make it to a zip line tower near the Kahului Golf Course, where they were picked up by the fire department's Air-1 helicopter. Emergency crews said the man was conscious and alert when he was transported to the hospital.
