HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - One of Hawaii's longest-serving gyms shut its doors, possibly for the last time, Saturday night.
Punahou Spa and Fitness closed down after serving members for 38 years.
The gym said all memberships will be reimbursed.
The closure came as a huge surprise, both to members and management. "This is very sudden for me to find out," said gym general manager Tony Taclan. "I did not know until this past Wednesday at 4 that the club was closing and I had until Saturday 6 p.m. to let everyone know."
There's a chance members may not have to find a new gym just yet. Taclan said negotiations are underway with a possible new owner who could reopen the fitness center.
