MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The University of Hawaii Warriors first practice of the fall could be summed up in two words: intensity and evaluation.

"Intensity, that's a great word.  We came out today and I felt it was one of our best practices even since spring, came out, so I feel we're moving forward from the get-go." Quarterback David Graves was obviously enthused after the two plus hour long session.

Graves split time at quarterback with Jeremy Higgins and recent transfer Sean Schroeder, who comes to Manoa after graduating from Duke in three years.

"It felt good, you know felt good to be a Warrior…beautiful place, that's for sure, definitely different from Durham North Carolina, but I'm grateful to be out here" added Shroeder.

It was the first practice for Head Coach Norm Chow, though he kept his excitement bottled.  "I've been doing this for a long time.  It doesn't matter if it's head coach or assistant coach, it's always an exciting time.  I love camp."

Higgins, Graves and Schroeder were the only quarterbacks to participate in team drills.  Taylor Graham, Ikaika Woolsey and Cayman Shutter didn't take any 11 on 11 snaps.  Shutter did participate in all other phases of practice.  He was arrested on suspicion of DUI earlier in the year.

The other two Warriors who were arrested in the offseason on the same charge, Alema Tachibana and Alex Dunnachie, were not.
