Thermal image shows reduced lava activity on Big Island

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Experts at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory released a new photo showing the latest on the lava flow.

According to U.S. Geological Survey officials, the flows are active on the Pali.

Red areas of the thermal image are warms portions of the flow field that were active in the past weeks or months, while yellow and white areas are active breakouts.

According to experts, the image shows an overall reduced level of activity.
