Man fatally shot at Maui resort had meth in system

WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - Maui police say a man fatally shot by an officer in a resort parking lot two months ago had high levels of methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system when he died.
The Maui Police Department released toxicology examination results for Marshall Langford on Monday but didn't provide further details.
Police say Langford was trying to flee in a stolen rental car when he pointed a handgun at an officer in the parking lot of the Mana Kai Maui Resort. The officer fired at Langford, who died at the scene.
The 31-year-old had 18 criminal convictions, include five for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
His mother, Genevieve Langford, told the Maui News after the shooting that that the police should have Tasered him instead of using deadly force.
