Back to School, Early Voting, Sunrise Olympics

BACK TO SCHOOL JAM

Public school students head back to school this morning. Parents may be eager for school to start, but drivers aren't. Danielle Tucker will show us where the back ups are on Sunrise.

NO DEAL FOR TEACHERS, BUS CHANGES

One thing remains the same. Teachers head back to work without a contract. They approved a contract in May that the Governor said was no longer on the table. Meanwhile, bus route cuts and changes go into effect today. Routes were cut due to budget constraints. The City has increased its service to help many of the affected students.

WATER MAIN BREAK

Despite working to fix a broken water main in Palolo Valley overnight, crews have not been able to patch up the problem yet. The 12 inch main ruptured yesterday near the intersection of Kalua Road and 9th Avenue.

COLORADO SHOOTING SUSPECT ARRAIGNMENT

James Holmes is scheduled to be formally charged in the Aurora theater shootings this morning. We'll be following developments live on Sunrise.

EARLY VOTING BEGINS

Also happening today, early voting for absentee voters begins. There are 9 sites open statewide and we have a list on HawaiiNewsNow.com.
