Pearl City man killed in motorcycle crash

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An adult male from Pearl City was killed Friday night when he was ejected from his motorcycle after crashing into a guardrail near the Middle Street off-ramp.

The accident happened at approximately 10:15 p.m.

According to police, the man was traveling west on the H-1 freeway at the extension to the viaduct when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail. He was reportedly ejected from the seat of his vehicle and landed on the roadway.

The man was transported to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died.

Police believe speed may have been a factor in the collision, but are unsure if drugs or alcohol are also factors. The man is believed to have been wearing a helmet.

It was Oahu's 39th traffic fatality of 2012, compared to 29 at the same time last year.
