(HawaiiNewsNow) - From the end of June through the beginning of August, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, will host Super Cobra and Venom helicopters and Hornet fighter jets while they participate in the biennial Rim of the Pacific Exercise.

Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 will arrive from Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, Calif., with four AH-1W Super Cobras and three UH-1Y Venom helicopters on June 27. Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 225 will arrive from Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, Calif., with approximately 10 F/A-18D Hornets on July 9.

The aircraft will be flying in support of multinational units training on the islands of Oahu and Hawaii as part of a Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force.

RIMPAC 2012 is the 23rd iteration of the world's largest international maritime exercise and includes more than 25,000 personnel from 22 nations, 42 ships, six submarines, and more than 200 aircraft. The exercise is scheduled to begin June 29 and will end August 3.
