Hundreds look for bargains at former Hawaii Medical Center-West

EWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Hundreds of people turned out at the former Hawaii Medical Center West Saturday to check out a giant garage sale.

The sale spanned all five floors of the former hospital and included office and clerical supplies, plus furniture. The money raised in the sale will benefit a number of residents and charities across West Oahu.

"You know, we've got our hospice, our home health services that we provide, and a lot of charity care that we do, uncompensated care, so a lot of these proceeds are going to go out and help those families," said Jerry Correa, CEO of St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii.

A separate auction for the hospital's medical equipment is set for September.

Meanwhile, St. Francis and The Queen's Health Systems are still in talks on a possible sale to Queen's.
