Funeral services for John Kapualani Koko of the Makaha Sons begin tonight at the Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary.
Public viewings are Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Koko died June 25 from health challenges at the age of 51.
An account at First Hawaiian Bank has been opened to help family with mounting medical costs and funeral expenses.
Donations can be made to "John Koko - A Heart Gift" at any First Hawaiian Bank Branch.
Koko started playing music at the age of 12 with "Na Leo O Nanakuli" which became "Third Road Delight". In 1982, John joined the Makaha Sons of Niʻihau. He continued playing until his passing.
Koko is survived by his wife Toni, sons John Jr., Jordon, Jeman and Jerry and two grandchildren.
